The last few weeks have been pretty busy. Having taken part in a rooftop protest at the Houses Of Parliament, i then had to quickly get myself ready to photograph a BIG protest at a power station.
Both of these were concerned with climate change, and the run up to the climate change talks in December in Copenhagen.
The first was a fairly simple and peaceful Greenpeace action, and was timed for the return to parliament of our lovely MP's after their ridiculously long summer break. It was a reminder that they need to make commitments to clean up our planet, rather than trashing it like we are now!
[link]The second was quite a different affair. It was planned by the Camp For Climate Action (Climate Camp, or CC)
Climate Camp decided to call this the Climate Swoop, and hundreds of people gathered for 24 hours of action at a coal fired power station at Ratcliffe-on-Soar. With coal being the dirtiest of the fossil fuels we use, and with energy companies wanting to build new coal fired power stations, then it's felt that Britain can not reduce it's CO2 emissions to the level we need if they are given the go ahead by the government.
Here's a link to photos i took of some of the activity.
[link]I've gone back to my roots a bit with these, and decided to present them in b&w, something people don't seem to do much any more.
I've also put a mixed piece on youtube combining stills with video clips. It's an idea i'm working on for presentation of this kind of photography.
[link]Much time has been spent trying to learn new programs for this. I also need to try and find suitable music for slideshows, but have concerns about copyrights. If anyone knows how to go about this then i'd certainly like some advice.
